World War 3: Iran unveils new missile defence system after labelling Trump ‘useless’ | World | News

The Iranian President was in attendance as the new Bavar-373 system was unleashed on ‘Defence Industry Day’. The missile system was completely developed domestically amid crippling Western sanctions. It appears to be a sign that Iran’s arms industry is growing – and sends a signal to Washington that Tehran is preparing for conflict.

The mobile Bavar-373 system is intended to intercept and destroy incoming hostile targets.

This could include missiles or other projectiles as Iran looks to protect itself from the air.

The hi-tech system can detect up to 300 targets at one time while tracking 60 of them.

The Bavar-373 can then engage six of them all at once, helping Tehran’s defences against multiple enemy attacks.

“When the enemy launches a missile against us, we cannot give a speech and say: ‘Mr. Rocket, please do not hit our country and our innocent people.'”

He reaffirmed Iran’s desire to never submit to Washington, adding: “There is no doubt that the US has not succeeded and will not succeed in any plot in the region.”

The Bavar-373 was compared to the Russian S-300 system by Iranian officials – and Mr Rouhani went even further, labelling it as “more powerful…and is in fact closer to the Russian S-400 system.”

The S-400, believed to be superior to the US Patriot system, was purchased by Turkey last month despite pressure from Washington.

Earlier this month Iran sent more shockwaves through Washington after they showed off three new “smart bombs” which can take down drones.

Named ‘Yasin’, the weapons can take down aircraft from 50km away.

Analysis from suggests that a Cold War between the two nations is taking place in the Middle East.

Iran is likely to be high on the agenda at the G7 talks this weekend.

Ally Russia will not be present, but French President Emmanuel Macron is set to mediate between Tehran and Washington.
