US Open draw in FULL: Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Williams, Osaka and Barty discover fate | Tennis | Sport

Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova will play each other in the first round, which will be their first-ever meeting at Flushing Meadows.

The two former champions have played each other 22 times with Williams leading the head-to-head 19-2.

In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer have been drawn in the same half and could meet in the semi-finals.

Rafael Nadal faces John Millman in the first round and has the likes of Nick Kyrgios, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Roberto Bautista Agut and Alexander Zverev in his half.

17:40: In the men’s draw, defending champion Novak Djokovic plays Roberto Carballes Baena in round one and is in the same half as Roger Federer, who plays a qualifier.

Rafael Nadal is in the bottom half and faces gritty Australian John Millman. While Britain’s Kyle Edmund plays Pablo Andujar in the first round.

17:35: Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova will meet in the first round in their first match in over three years.

World No 1 Naomi Osaka starts against Russian Anna Blinkova while Wimbledon winner Simona Halep and Petra Kvitova both play qualifiers.

British star Johanna Konta plays Daria Kasatkina, Cincinnati champion Madison Keys faces Misaki Doi.

17:24: Dominic Thiem plays Thomas Fabbiano. All Canadian battle between Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

17:22: Roger Federer has landed in Djokovic’s side of the draw. And plays a qualifier in the first round. Also has Cameron Norrie and David Goffin in his quarter.

17:21: Rafael Nadal vs John Millman in the bottom half.

17:20: In-form Daniil Medvedev against Indian Prajnesh Gunneswaran.

17:19: Top seed Novak Djokovic plays Roberto Carballes Baena. Could play Sam Querrey in the second round.


17:16: Sloane Stephens and Petra Kvitova both play qualifiers. Garbine Muguruza faces Alison Riske.

17:13: Jo Konta vs Daria Kasatkina. Simona Halep to play a qualifier. Katie Volynets vs Bianca Andreescu.

17:12: French Open champion Ashleigh Barty faces Zarina Diyas. Serena Williams faces Maria Sharapova. WOW.

17:10: Defending champion Naomi Osaka will play Anna Blinkova. Cori Gauff is in Osaka’s quarter and plays Anastasia Potapova. Kiki Bertens plays a qualifier.

17:07: Looks like the draw has already been done and will be unveiled all in one go. Standby!!

16:50: One of the major moments of last year’s US Open was the final between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka which ended in controversy after Williams clashed with chair umpire Carlos Ramos.

But this year, in a bid to avoid a similar incident, the United States Tennis Association have confirmed Ramos will not officiate any Serena or Venus Williams match.
