Typhoon Hagibis: Cyclone could trigger ‘multibillion dollar disaster’ if it hits Tokyo Bay | World | News

In the JTWC latest update, Hagibis was located approximately 752 miles south of Yokosuka, Japan.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the typhoon is forecast to make land in the Tokyo area late on Saturday and urged people to take precautions to avoid potentially life-threatening danger.

Now, one meteorologist has warned should Hagibis hit Tokyo Bay in the Southern Kanto region it could cause catastrophic damage and become one of the most damaging typhoons in Japanese history.

Jeff Masters, a meteorologist with the magazine Scientific American said: “If it hits Tokyo Bay like some of the current forecasts are saying, then it’s going to be a multibillion-dollar disaster.”
