Trump supporters lash out at Bruce Springsteen after devastating attack on President | World | News

During an interview with Gayle King on ‘CBS This Morning’, the host asked the rock legend about a recent rally whereby Trump referenced the musician. On October 11, Trump held a rally in Minneapolis where he claimed that he did not need the influence of the likes of Springsteen, Beyonce or Jay-Z, all of whom campaigned for Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Speaking to his supporters, Trump said: “I didn’t need Beyoncé and Jay-Z, I didn’t need little Bruce Springsteen.

“They had all these people, they’d come in because she couldn’t get a crowd.”

Asked by King, if he was surprised by Trump’s comments, Springsteen responded that he admitted that anything “was possible”.

Following that initial response, Springsteen then spoke of American society as a whole.

In a bold admission, the musician spoke of how that we’re living in a “frightening time”.

He said: “We’re living in a frightening time.

“The stewardship of the nation has been thrown away.

“Unfortunately we have somebody who I feel doesn’t have a grasp of the deep meaning of what it means to be an American.”

Another also supported the argument, they added: “Wrong Bruce.

“He knows exactly what it means to be American! Just sing why don’t you!”

This is not the first time the singer has criticised the current President.

In an interview with Esquire last year, the singer said Trump had no “interest in uniting the country”.

Before his support for Ms Clinton in 2016, the rock star had also praised Barack Obama in 2008.

Despite Springsteen’s comments, one user simply wrote: “He can win elections without the over-rated Hollywood elites.

“I think Bruce is just plain wrong to say our President is out of touch.

“Look at his rally’s, there’s a new BOSS in town, TRUMP 2020 plan on it!”

Springsteen’s remarks come as supporters of the President have stepped up their campaign to discredit an impeachment inquiry against him.

One ally even warned that the probe into the President was “dangerous for the country”.
