Royal news: Prince Harry attacked for being ‘preachy’ and ‘detached’ by royal expert | Royal | News

The Sun’s former royal editor, Duncan Larcombe, told Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box’ that Harry’s character and manner of handling things has changed dramatically. He said: “He was a people’s prince, he’s now become some hypocritical, preachy, detached, slightly confused young prince and he’ll lose his popularity because of that and I think that’s a tragedy because I think he’s a great guy.” Mr Larcombe served as royal correspondent for ten years. winning multiple awards for his royal reporting and having written two books centred around the Duke’s life. His comments come following the royal couples recent lavish trips on several different private jets spanning just a few weeks.

The couple jetted out off to Ibiza on a private jet for a getaway break, making the return journey in the same way.

Then, a week later, the Duke and Duchess boarded another private jet, this time to Nice to spend sometime at Sir Elton John’s luxurious villa.

The multiple journeys sparked outrage among the general public and several high-profile figures.

They condemned the hypocrisy of the couples ventures considering their apparent pledge to environmental causes.

Given that aviation is one of the world’s major polluters and is responsible for more than 2percent of global emissions, their decision to use four private jets in quick succession has come across as counterintuitive.

He isn’t alone in his exasperation, as the Sunday Times’ royal correspondent shared similar dismey.

Royal Nikkhah said:“I think at the heart of it here is, how is it going to be perceived?

“Every individual member of the Royal Family is entitled to travel how they want. I think if you are then going to make it one of your causes, that you feel that you need to be very careful about your carbon footprint, you’ve got to be very careful. Practising the message you preach is really, really important.

“You risk distracting from the work that you’re trying to do.”

Although, many were quick to jump to Harry and Meghan’s defence, with Sir Elton John claiming the flight he arranged for them to Nice had been “carbon neutral”.

And, Royal commentator Omid Scobie said Harry’s circumstances have changed since having baby Archie.

“I think the difference between Harry is when he could jump on an EasyJet with mates, now he has a child and how do you protect that child? I think that maybe some of this is just figuring that out. How can they travel, have their own life, but also do things the right way?”
