Royal latest: Meghan and Harry push ‘LA plans’ despite Charles Herefordshire estate gift | Royal | News

Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex say the royal couple are speeding up plans to leave the UK for the US. It comes after the couple reportedly ‘snubbed’ Prince Charles’ plans for them to take on an estate in Hertfordshire. A piece of land was earmarked for the Prince to help his son create an estate for his family near to the border with Wales.

But Harry has not shown interest in the move thus far, instead focusing on the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, which he and Meghan Markle moved to earlier this year.

A source told the Mail Online: “In the 1980s, it was decided baby Harry would one day have a family and want to build an estate.

“Charles has discussed Herefordshire, thinking he’d love it.

“Perhaps back then they were expecting Harry would marry a Sloaney nursery teacher who would love nothing more than running an estate.

But the pair have also come under fire for their “jet set” lifestyle. The issues stemmed from the couple’s use of private jets while at the same time urging people to be more environmentally friendly.

As such, the MailOnline claim the couple are now in “victim mode” – and claim they want to be around people who support their views and actions.

The news comes after Prince Harry, who is still considered to be a reluctant part of the British royal monarchy, spoke of his desire to use his position “for good”.

However, the young Duke said he would refuse to step across the line into celebrity status. The Prince spoke about his reluctance towards his status with biographer Angela Levine.

He told the royal writer that he felt that he “didn’t really want” his position as sixth in line to the British throne.

Published in the Telegraph, the Prince told Mrs Levine: “If you’re born into [the Royal family], as we were [he also spoke for Prince William], I think it’s normal to feel as though you don’t really want it.

“They [those who have sought fame] have a natural talent. We don’t.

“We don’t want to be just a bunch of celebrities but instead use our role for good.

“It’s a narrow line between the two, but I am not going to cross it and go down the celebrity route.”

Meanwhile, Harry recently told royal fans he “can’t wait to introduce” baby Archie and his wife Meghan Markle on their first official tour of Africa as a family.

He said in an Instagram post: “In just a few weeks our family will be taking its first official tour to Africa, a region of the world that over the past two decades has been a second home to me.

“Our team has helped create a meaningful programme that we’re so excited to share with you.

“On a personal note, I can’t wait to introduce my wife and son to South Africa! We’ll see all of you very soon.”

The Duke is set to make visits to Malawi, Angola and Botswana, while the couple will be seen in South Africa together.
