Remainers likening Boris Johnson to Hitler over prorogation have shown ‘utter disrespect’ | Politics | News

David Hirsh, professor of sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London, said while people had the right to voice their frustration over any decision made by the Government, they should do so in a respectful way.

He told “We are living in a time when people are more and more worried about politics and democratic morals.

“While people are right to worry about the erosion of democracy, both on the right and the left, they should not just say Boris is Hitler.

The Jewish Labour Movement (JLM)  responded to the sickening comments by issuing a statement condemning those who likened the prorogation of Parliament to the slaughter of six million Jews during the Second World War.

The group has been fighting the escalating antisemitism crisis within the Labour party and earlier this year members passed a vote of no confidence in Jeremy Corbyn.

The JLM said: “The suspension of parliament by Boris Johnson is reprehensible and undemocratic.

“However, likening this to Hitler and Nazi Germany is deeply inappropriate and a disgraceful minimisation of some of the most heinous crimes in human history.”

Oban Mackie, a Labour supporter and deputy members of Somerset Youth Parliament, slammed the “utter disrespect” of those using the horrors of WWII to get their point across.

He tweeted: “Comparing our current situation to that of Hitler and the Reichstag in 1933 really really really isn’t the hot take people think it is.

“All that does is belittle the repugnant abominations committed under Hitler’s Nazi totalitarian dictatorship – utter disrespect.”
