Prince George mocked for taking ballet classes in attack by US TV host | Royal | News

will return to his £18,000 a year St Thomas’s Battersea school next month, and his new curriculum will include weekly ballet lessons. The six-year-old, who has been attending the school for two years, was however mocked by an American TV host over the news. Good Morning America presenter Lara Spencer discussed the future king’s curriculum before mocking Prince George – while members of the audience burst out laughing.

She said: “Details of George’s curriculum have been released making us all really happy we don’t have to do homework any more.

“In addition to the usual second-grade things, like Math, Science and History, the future king of England will be putting down the play-doh to take on Religious Studies, computer programming, poetry and ballet among other things.”

The US host then burst out laughing while some members of the audience also started laughing too.

Spencer continued: “Prince William says George absolutely loves ballet, I have news for you Prince William we’ll see how long that lasts.”

The presenter then started laughing once again, as she received a huge applause from the audience.

Spencer said: “Well he might. But, between Religious Studies and the computer programming, I would want to go back to the play-doh.”

Footage of the TV host mocking Prince George quickly circulated on social media, with commentators quick to jump to the defence of the young prince.

Many were critical of Spencer for laughing at Prince George for enjoying dance and encouraged the future king to continue with his passion.

One wrote: “So here’s a clip of a grown woman @LaraSpencer @GMA laughing and shaming 6-year-old Prince George for liking ballet. Despicable.”

Another said: “How dare you laugh at Prince George taking up the art form of ballet. How dare you shame boys like this. This is why boys get bullied. You are a grown woman. You should be ashamed of yourself. I am beyond disgusted by your laughter on air.”

Some also attacked the other members of the GMA panel for laughing after the cruel comments.

Head of the lower school, Helen Haslem, wrote on the school’s website: “The curriculum presented in Year 2 reflects the increased ability of the children, both academically and socially.

“It sees the completion of the basic skills in literacy and numeracy in Key Stage 1.

“Individual strengths and talents begin to emerge, which you will undoubtedly begin to see.”

Earlier this year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge confirmed that Princess Charlotte will be joining George at the £6,000-a-term school in September.
