Phoebe Waller-Bridge auctioning Golden Globes outfit for bushfire funds | Ents & Arts News

Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the latest high-profile name to lend her support to the Australian bushfire crisis, by auctioning off the outfit she wore to the Golden Globes earlier this month.

Waller-Bridge, who previously suggested she would sell the clothes, has placed the custom-made outfit on eBay in an effort to raise money for the ongoing relief effort in the fire ravaged country.

She won two awards at the Golden Globes while wearing the black and gold outfit designed by Australian designers Ralph & Russo.

The outfit is on the Australian eBay site, and has a starting bid of $77,000 (£40,650), and is set to end later in the month.

Bidders are required to place a deposit down first before they make an offer on the clothing.

The writer and actress shared a video on Twitter on Friday, showing fans where various celebrities had touched the outfit, including Tom Hanks, Sir Elton John and Olivia Colman – who rested her cheek on the tuxedo.

It is thought that James Bond actress Ana de Armas and Killing Eve star Jodie Comer had also touched the outfit at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

More from Australia Bushfires

Waller-Bridge, who has helped write the latest Bond film, said: “I’m very excited that this stunning, one-of-a-kind, couture tuxedo created by Australian geniuses Ralph & Russo will continue its journey by contributing to this urgent cause.

“If money raised by its auction can help raise funds to fight the disaster in Australia, the future impact of this suit will be far greater than the luck it brought me and the Fleabag team at the Golden Globes last weekend.”

Profits will go to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund, WIRES Wildlife Rescue Emergency Fund and Wildlife Victoria.

Celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Pink, Elton John and Chris Hemsworth have also donated to the relief effort in Australia, as bushfires continue to rage.
