Online banking warning: Reduce risk of being scammed at Christmas with this simple check | Personal Finance | Finance


A typical household spends more than £800 extra in December, the Bank of England has found.

Worryingly, research by TSB has found that while 86 percent of consumers feel safe shopping online, only 26 percent could identify a fake or “phishing” website.

And, with over half of Christmas shopping budgets (56 percent) expects to be spent online, according to Adobe Online Shopping Prediction 2018, staying safe online will be crucial for many shoppers.

As Christmas Day nears, Ashley Hart, Head of Fraud at TSB has shared some top tips for protecting against fraud this winter.
