North Korea latest World War 3 news: Kim issues shock threat to US over nuclear talks | World | News

Pyongyang is unhappy that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described the nation as “rogue”. Reacting to the statement, North Korea First Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said Mr Pompeo was “thoughtless”. She claimed that the comments had increased the animosity between North Korea and the US, making it harder for denuclearisation negotiations to resume.

According to Al Jazeera, the comments were put in a statement released by Korean Central News Agency.

She said: “Our expectations of dialogue with the US are gradually disappearing and we are being pushed to re-examine all the measures we have taken so far.

“The US had better not put any longer our patience to the test with such remarks irritating us if it doesn’t want to have bitter regrets afterward.”

The backlash come as talks between the nations stuttered.

In June, North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump had met and vowed to continue discussions.

The talks centre around the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

Despite the promises, no progress has been made.

Instead, North Korea has launched a number of weapons test as a protest of military operations jointly carried out by the US and South Korea.

Previously, Mr Pompeo said Trump saw North Korea’s “rogue behaviour could not be ignored”, adding Washington was “telling the truth about the challenges we face”.

On Tuesday, the envoys of several nations condemned North Korea for its “repeated provocative launches” over the past month.

Although the tests were deemed as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions, Korea-Europe Association adviser Kim Son Gyong issued the warning whereby he insisted that his country will never surrender.

He said: “There will be no greater mistake if they think that we, the DPRK, will be forced to give up our self-defensive right for ensuring peace, by being weighed down with such irrational documents in all their entirety.”
