Nigel Farage: Brexit Party leader speaks on BBC news about plan to Leave EU with no deal | UK | News

The Brexit Party leader said he hasn’t spoken to Mr Johnson since he became the country’s leader but said he will have to at some point because he “needs” the Brexit Party’s support. He said: “If you put the support of Boris Johnson Conservatives and the Brexit Party together, the truth is, in a general election with a clear policy, we would be unstoppable.” Mr Farage has previously said he will support Boris Johnson’s “do or die” bid to leave the EU on October 31 if it’s a clean break. He later added his 630 Brexit Party candidates are “raring to go” and are likely to win leave seats in south Yorkshire against Labour.

Speaking to BBC News, Mr Farage said: “At some point, he’s going to need to talk to us. He’s made this decision that he’s going to deliver Brexit.

“He’s sacked 21 of his own MPs that were effectively Remainers. He cannot win an election whenever it comes if the Brexit Party stands against him.

“There are parts of the country where just putting up a Brexit Party candidate means his candidates will lose.

“If Boris Johnson makes the decision that Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement is not going to be seriously amended in Brussels that actually it’s a rotten deal for the country then the only way forward is to go for a clean break Brexit.

“If he reaches that conclusion, there are lots of seats in the country where he faces a challenge from the Liberal Democrats particularly in the West Country areas.

“I would say look, we won’t stand against you, in fact far from it we’ll support you, we’ll campaign for you to win those seats.

“But equally I was in South Yorkshire last night, areas where big leave vote where we’re the only challenger to Labour in those areas.

“If you put the support of Boris Johnson Conservatives and the Brexit Party together, the truth is, in a general election with a clear policy, we would be unstoppable.”

Mr Farage went on to insist there should be a general election because Mr Johnson “cannot command support in Parliament” after losing the vote to block no deal.

The Brexit Party MEP added: “We’ve got 630 candidates on the approved list, vetted, raring to go. I’ve been all around the country talking to them.

“We’re ready, we’re organised, we’re ready to go but I’ll say it again if Boris Johnson decides that he wants to go for a clean break Brexit we will work together with him.”

He has previously said he would put “country before party” and team up with Prime Minister Boris Johnson if the Tories committed to delivering a no deal Brexit.

Mr Johnson has repeatedly said he will deliver Brexit by the end of October this year with or without a deal, but has so far failed to achieve concessions from the Brussels bloc.

Mr Farage has previously said the two parties would give Mr Johnson a huge parliamentary majority after the Prime Minister lost his Tory majority on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Channel 4 news, Mr Farage said: “If he decides that actually the only way Brexit can really be delivered is to go for a clean break on October 31 then we want to support him, help him in every way.

“We want a non-aggression pact with him.”
