Michelle Obama news: Former FLOTUS reveals her and Barack’s next steps | World | News

The state-funded all girls school is located in Islington. Mrs Obama had also visited the school in 2009 and responded to questions from pupils in the audience. One pupil asked: “Your book is all about becoming, what do you consider as your next step in creating a world in which diversity in all forms is celebrated?”

Mrs Obama initially responded: “I’m still trying to figure that out!”

After a brief pause, she explained: “Just relaunched our global girls alliance, so education is going to play a significant role in what I do, but my husband and I are working on the Obama Presidential library.

“All United States Presidents develop a library and sometimes that’s a place where artefacts from the administration are there for people to come and see, but in terms of the work that we want to do, Barack and I we want to be a part of training that next generation of leaders.

“We know that it’s not enough to have just one Michelle or one Barack or one or two people here or there, we have to have a pipeline of these kinds of individuals who are making pledges but then have the question of ‘how do I do it?’”

She further explained: “Not just in the United States, but around the world, Barack and I have made that pledge to find, nurture, train.”

The former First Lady noted she was not just talking about Presidential leaders.

Her and Mr Obama’s plans will also look for community leaders, local government leaders and officials, as well as parents of future generations of leaders.

Ms Obama has worked as an associate in Chicago law firm Sidley & Austin, where she met her future husband.

She then went on to hold roles in the Chicago city government, before becoming the Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago.

Before her husband becoming President, she held several roles within the community affairs department of University of Chicago Hospitals.

Her first foreign trip as FLOTUS saw her meet Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.

Her first solo trip saw her visit Mexico.
