Meghan Markle and Prince Harry praised as ‘Queen and King’ in latest charity spotlight | Royal | News

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have shared a series of pictures by the Love The Oceans (LTO) non-for-profit organisation on their official Instagram account, sussexroyal, in a bid to shine a light on the charity’s work. As the month the couple has dedicated to organisations they deem “forces for change” is about to end, Meghan and Harry marked International Whale Shark Day to raise awareness on LTO’s latest campaign.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ message was greatly appreciated by their followers, with hundreds praising them for their work and efforts to raise awareness.

One wrote: “Love the Oceans, Love this organization! Kudos to them for the great work they do!!”

Another said:  “Another awesome organization I’m happy to follow and donate to!

“Thank you for bringing so much attention to these causes! Keep up the great work”

And a third went as far as hailing Prince Harry, the seventh-in-line to the throne, and his wife monarchs.

They said: “Meg and harry are queen and king.”

Meghan and Harry explained in a lengthy message why they support this ONG and why people should “protect a whale shark”.

They wrote: “As we come to the end of the month we want to acknowledge the great work done by @LoveTheOceans – a non-profit organisation we are following, chosen by you for #ForcesForChange month.

“Today we are helping them celebrate #InternationalWhaleSharkDay.

“LoveTheOceans (LTO) is launching its ‘Adopt a Whale Shark’ campaign, enabling people to adopt an individual whale shark.

“The donation will support their continued research to protect these gentle giants.

“You may wonder – why protect a whale shark?

“These creatures are classified as endangered, meaning that they face a very high risk of extinction in the wild.

“The estimated global population of whale sharks has decreased by 50% over the last 75 years due to illegal fisheries hunting these beautiful species for their fins, that are then sold on the black market.

“Love The Oceans has developed responsible tourism guidelines to protect these animals in their local area, working with fishermen and communities to safeguard their natural habitat and nurture a healthy ocean for all marine life.

“Visit @LoveTheOceans to find out more about their new initiative and learn how you can help”

Each month, Meghan and Harry dedicate their only official social media account to highlight one cause close to their hearts.

For the month of August, the royal couple took the lead from the September issue of British Vogue co-edited by the Duchess of Sussex.

The magazine, published on August 5, was titled Force for Change and focused on inspirational women and their work to mark a change in the world.

On August 1, Meghan and Harry asked on Instagram who their followers deemed a force for change.

They wrote: “For the month of August we look to you for help. We want to know who YOUR Force for Change is…

“Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large.

“Over the next few days please add your suggestions into the comments section: someone you look up to, the organisation doing amazing work that we should all be following, an account that inspires you to be and do better (or that simply makes you feel good), or the handle that brims with optimism for a brighter tomorrow.”
