Marvel movies: NEXT Avengers epic gets tentative date set – fans will have to wait a while | Films | Entertainment

Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame smashed records and broke hearts as it drew Phase Three to an emotional conclusion earlier this year.

Now, Producer Trinh Tran has spoken out on when fans can expect another movie on such a mammoth scale.

It looks as though the wait could be about as long as the last 10 years spent anticipating the culmination of Phase Three.

“Our focus right now is to make sure that the titles that we’ve released in Phase 4… obviously those stories are going to be new, exciting, different and can connect with the audience like the other movies have been,” she told ComicBook.

“Over 10 years ago, it’s always been our dream to get to Infinity War and Endgame level.

“We didn’t know obviously where that was going to go at the start of the studio, but it’s incredible to know that we were able to accomplish that,” Tran continued.

Laying out plans to bring Phase Four to as ambitious an end as the culmination of Avengers: Endgame, she added: “Now it’d be amazing if we could get to that level 10 years later.

“I think it’s a dream to continue doing that and build upon the MCU and the connective tissue that we have.”

If Tran’s predictions are correct, it seems Marvel connoisseurs will have to wait until around 2029 for their next franchise-defining climax.

Endgame saw the Avengers who survived The Snap dealing with their grief and trauma in the wake of Thanos [played by Josh Brolin] eliminating 50 per cent of all life in the universe.

Those who remained came together to reverse the effects of The Snap and bring back their friends before all the Avengers ultimately teamed up to take on Thanos a one final battle.

There were losses along the way, however, with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) sacrificing herself on Voromir in order to obtain the Soul Stone.

“There are very few certain things but definitely, death is pretty certain. But people definitely don’t believe it and have tried to convince me that my character did not actually die. That maybe, my character existed in an alternate universe.

“But no, death is a pretty final thing,” she insisted.

In Avengers: Endgame, the possibility of her return was already addressed when Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) told the devastated Avengers there was no way she could be brought back.

While it seems Black Widow won’t be coming back from the dead to continue her journey, there could be a chance she will get more solo movies.

Johansson appeared to confirm Black Widow 2 (and maybe more) during her speech at Elle’s Women In Hollywood event earlier this month.

According to New York Times reporter Kyle Buchanan, the actress referred to the film as a “standalone franchise”, implying there will be more than one to come.

“Interesting if you expected it to be a one-off based on… you know,” he tweeted.

Black Widow is released in UK cinemas May 2020.
