Man Utd transfer news: Wolves star Ruben Neves makes decision after talks begin | Football | Sport

Manchester United transfer target Ruben Neves would prefer to join Juventus than the Red Devils, according to reports. The Wolves star has emerged as an option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is determined to strengthen his midfield during the January transfer window.

Manchester United are currently short in midfield, with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay both sidelined through injury.

The Red Devils have just Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira, James Garner and Fred in the absence of the duo and, as a result, Solskjaer is eyeing reinforcements.

Neves has emerged as a United transfer target, with the club supposedly viewing him as a future Pogba replacement.

Yet Goal claim the Portugal international would prefer to make the move to Serie A titans Juventus instead.

As thing stand, Maurizio Sarri’s side don’t appear to be interested in a deal for the 22-year-old.

But United will be hoping their appeal within the game will be enough to get a deal for Neves over the line.

Meanwhile, speaking in November, ESPN pundit Shaka Hislop admitted that Neves would tick all the boxes for United.

“Well, that [whether Wolves would let Neves go] is the big question,” Hislop said.

“Let’s assume that Manchester United come up with the funds that prompts Wolves to part with Ruben Neves.

“Just talent-wise, age-wise, ticks all the boxes for Manchester United. Still a big club, still have a lot of money.

“Assuming they are able to put a package on the table to tempt the player, I don’t think that’s any question, to tempt the club, that is the more difficult proposition, I think they can, I think they will.

“If they do I think it works perfectly well for both.”

Neves isn’t the only Wolves star on United’s radar.

The club are also interested in signing Raul Jimenez, who has scored eight Premier League goals so far this season.

The prospect of Wolves letting two of their best players depart to a rival, however, appears remote.
