Man Utd goalkeeper David De Gea blasted by Paul Ince – ‘He doesn’t have a clue’ | Football | Sport

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has been slammed by club hero Paul Ince, who thinks fans have the right to be ‘disgraced’ with the Spaniard’s post-match interview on Sunday.

De Gea looked despondent as he spoke to Sky Sports following his side’s defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Matty Longstaff’s long-range effort was enough for the Magpies to leave the pitch with an important three points but United players in tatters.

And Ince isn’t happy with the way De Gea, who looked forlorn in his interview after the game, conducted himself as a supposed leader.

“I watched David De Gea’s post-match interview and I was at a loss,” Ince said.

“He’s meant to be one of the leaders, if that was Peter Schmeichel standing there, there’s no chance you’d have seen that interview.

“Rather than him addressing and recognising where the team were going wrong, it just felt like ‘I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know.’

“This is one of the top players, the leaders at Manchester United, who has just signed a five-year contract!

“And he looks like he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.

“If you’re a United fan listening to your goalkeeper, one of the main leaders in the team, and that’s the interview you here you’d be right to be disgraced.

“I’d be looking thinking, Jesus, he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on – I bet he’s regretting signing that contract.”

United spent £150million in the summer on Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James but none of them have inspired the club onto new heights as of yet.

United have now lost three times in the Premier League this season, which is as many times they’ve drawn games and one more than they’ve won.

Solskjaer’s side take on Liverpool in their next game in just under two weeks time.

Liverpool have yet to lose a game in the league this season as they sit top of the table with 24 points – eight ahead of rivals Manchester City.
