London stabbing: Man stabbed in Kings Cross attack – police on scene | UK | News

The incident happened near Kings Cross station. Police and paramedics scrambled to Argyle Street after receiving reports of a man stabbed. He was rushed to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries, Scotland Yard said.

“It is believed that the victim and suspect are known to each other,” a police spokeswoman said.

A cordon remains in place in Argyle Square while police investigate.

There have been no arrests.

The 39-year old man is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed repeatedly with a broken bottle.

Met Police say they were called at 2.55pm to Argyle Street & found the victim suffering from stab wounds.

It is believed the suspect and victim are known to each other.

The man was taken to hospital.

His condition has been assessed as non life-threatening.

Previous Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, has vowed to tackle the problem and treat violent crime as a “disease”.

While London Mayor Sadiq Khan has created a violent crime reduction unit with a focus on tackling the problem, which he partly attributes to Tory cuts in policing.

Amid the turmoil on UK streets Prime Minister Boris Johnson will today unveil measures to put more police officers on the beat.

The plan to recruit an extra 20,000 police officers will begin within weeks and an urgent review will take place of plans to make it easier for forces to use stop-and-search powers.
