London fire: Tower block in flames near Grenfell – 60 firefighters at scene | UK | News

Dramatic pictures shared on social media show smoke billowing from the building in Notting Hill, west London.

Eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters are at the scene.

One Twitter user posted a picture of the blaze, writing: “The #smoke and #fire is getting tense.”

Another tweeted: “a building literally opposite grenfell is on fire???? FIRE is literally going up the pipes, you would have thought the council would have sorted out these problems by now!!!!! THIS IS ACC DISGUSTING.”

A third wrote: “I am at work near Holland Park and all I have heard for about 20mins straight is tons of sirens going off nearby.

“Half of London’s emergency services must be dealing with something around here.”

Fire crews said they received 25 calls to the incident at 11.40am today.

London Fire Brigade said on Twitter: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to reports of smoke in Darfield Way in #NottingHill.”
