Jeremy Corbyn Brexit plot FOILED: Labour drops no confidence demand as Remainers divided | Politics | News

The leaders of the Lib Dems, SNP, Plaid Cymru, the Green Party and the Independent Group for Change met with Mr Corbyn this morning to discuss ways to block a no deal Brexit.

Mr Corbyn had earlier positioned himself as a potential caretaker prime minister, in the event of a successful ousting of Mr Johnson.

But it appears no agreement has yet been met between the Remainers chiefs, with the group agreeing to meet again.

The other party leaders are believed to be favouring a “legislative” approach, rather than an all-or-nothing confidence vote in Mr Johnson.

The leaders of all six parties said in a joint statement: “Jeremy Corbyn outlined the legal advice he has received from shadow attorney general Shami Chakrabarti which calls Boris Johnson’s plans to suspend parliament to force through a no-deal ‘the gravest abuse of power and attack upon UK constitutional principle in living memory’.

“The attendees agreed that Boris Johnson has shown himself open to using anti-democratic means to force through no deal.

“The attendees agreed on the urgency to act together to find practical ways to prevent no-deal, including the possibility of passing legislation and a vote of no confidence.

“The party leaders agreed to further meetings.”
