India vs Pakistan: Imran Khan fires back with promise to respond to ‘Indian aggression’ | World | News

Mr Khan compared Indian leader Narendra Modi to Adolf Hitler and warned him against provoking violence in the strife-torn region. He said: “I am telling Narendra Modi that if you try a skirmish, we will respond tenfold. Hitler had arrogance and Modi’s arrogance is no different. But history has shown that Hitler was destroyed, Napoleon was destroyed. War is never the solution; it leads to multiple other conflicts.”

Mr Khan used an address celebrating Pakistani Independence Day to accuse neighbouring India of planning military action in Kashmir.

He travelled to Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, making his first visit to the region since becoming leader in 2018.

In a speech he told the region’s parliament that India planned more extensive action than that of February, when its fighter jets struck inside Pakistan following a dramatic escalation in tension between the rivals.

He said: “They have made a more horrendous plan to divert world attention from their move in Kashmir, they plan action in Azad (Pakistani-held) Kashmir.

“The Pakistani army is fully aware India has made a plan of taking action in Azad Kashmir.”

India rules the populous Kashmir Valley and the Hindu-dominated region around Jammu city, while Pakistan controls Azad Kashmir, a wedge of territory in the west.

India and Pakistan have fought two wars over Kashmir since gaining independence from Britain in 1947 and came close to a third in February after a deadly attack on Indian police by a Pakistan-based militant group resulted in air strikes by both countries.
