Hurricane Dorian NOAA update: Now ‘strongest hurricane in modern records’ to hit Bahamas | World | News


NOAA’s National Hurricane Centre have issued their latest update for 11am (EDT) on Sunday, September 1. 

Hurricane Dorian has intensified to maximum sustained winds of 180mph.

Hurricane Dorian is now about 20 miles east north-east of Great Abaco Island. 

Dorian is also about 205 miles east of West Palm Beach in Florida.

With this advisory, new watches and warnings have been issued.

A Hurricane Watch has now been issued for the east coast of Florida from north of Deerfield Beach to the Volusia/Brevard County Line. 

A Storm Surge Watch has also been issued from north of Deerfield Beach to the Volusia/Brevard County Line. 

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Lake Okeechobee.
