Hurricane Dorian NOAA 8am update: Storm surge of 23 feet to rage in Bahamas | World | News


In its 8am EDT (1pm UK time) public advisory, the NOAA warned the eye of Category 5 Hurricane Dorian is “moving little” while over Grand Bahama Island. According to the latest update from the NHC, Hurricane Dorian is tracking at maximum sustained wind speeds of 165 mph. The hurricane is continuing to moving toward the west at a speed of 1mph.

NOAA’s outlook for Dorian currently says: “Dorian is moving toward the west near 1 mph (2 km/h). A slow westward to west-northwestward motion is forecast during the next day or so, followed by a gradual turn toward the northwest and north.

“On this track, the core of extremely dangerous Hurricane Dorian will continue to pound Grand Bahama Island through much of today and tonight.

“The hurricane will move dangerously close to the Florida east coast tonight through Wednesday evening.”
