Chelsea transfer news: Blues to hijack Man Utd Jadon Sancho bid | Football | Sport

Chelsea have reportedly put Jadon Sancho at the top of their wish-list with plans put in place should their transfer ban be lifted in January.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport announced on Monday that Chelsea’s appeal against their transfer ban will take place on November 20.

If successful, Chelsea could potentially look at bringing in new recruits in January in a boost to their top-four chances.

And Express Sport understands £150million has been set aside for Lampard to spend as he pleases on bolstering his squad.

Attacking options seem high on their list with both Wilfried Zaha and Timo Werner long-term targets.

But the Telegraph report Chelsea are also interested in signing Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old has been a revelation in the Bundesliga since his move from Manchester City in 2017.

He enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, scoring 12 league goals to garner attention from England boss Gareth Southgate.

Sancho has since become a regular in the international set-up, making a total of 10 appearances with his first England goals coming in the 5-3 win over Kosovo in September.

And his performances have also seen Manchester United strengthen their interest in signing him, although Chelsea could now compete with them for his signature.

For Chelsea though, the transfer ban has acted as somewhat of a blessing in disguise with Lampard forced into trusting their youth players to step up.

And they have so far proved a huge success through the opening few months of the season.

Tammy Abraham has scored nine Premier League goals so far – level with Sergio Aguero and only bettered by Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.

Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori both played under Lampard while on loan at Derby last season and have excelled at Chelsea in the first team set-up as well.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has looked every bit the talent that saw him linked with a £50million move to Bayern Munich before even starting a match for Chelsea last season.

And summer signing Christian Pulisic, aged 21, broke Abraham’s record to become Chelsea’s youngest ever hat-trick hero last month.
