Chelsea ace Kurt Zouma opens up on what Olivier Giroud is doing for Tammy Abraham | Football | Sport

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been praised for his work with Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi behind the scenes at Cobham.

The Blues forward has only started once in the Premier League this season, having fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Giroud, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is expected to leave the Premier League title-contenders in January.

Chelsea value Giroud at £5million, and it is believed that Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is keen for a reunion at the San Siro.

Despite his prowess on the international stage, Giroud has only managed six appearances in all competitions, scoring once in the UEFA Super Cup.

He has found himself falling significantly behind Abraham and Batshuayi in the pecking order, leaving the 33-year-old with a severe lack of game time.

But his team-mate Zouma has revealed that the veteran striker hasn’t let that get him down, as he has continued to teach the younger forwards.

“He is frustrated, he wants to play more,” Zouma said.

“Like any football player, he wants to be on the pitch, but he is taking everything very calmly.

“He is a professional, he works hard in training.

“I have a lot of respect for the player he is.

“As someone in the dressing room, he is someone who gives advice to Tammy and Michy.

“He wants the best for the team, which is important, and it is why he is a good person.”

Meanwhile, reports emerged on Thursday suggesting Borussia Dortmund had entered the race for Giroud, and are preparing to challenge Inter for his signature.

The 33-year-old scored the winner for France against Moldova on Thursday night.
