Brexit news: Protesters shout ‘STOP THE COUP’ as Boris Johnson gives speech | UK | News

Protesters outside Number 10 Downing Street could be heard shouting “stop the coup” as the Prime Minister delivered his latest Brexit pledge to take the UK out of the EU by October 31. Boris Johnson claimed there will be “no circumstances” in which he will ask for a further delay to the Brexit process pushed by a vote of no confidence in his Government tabled by Jeremy Corbyn.

He said: “If there’s one thing that can hold us back in this talks with Brussels is that MPs may find some way to cancel the referendum.

“Or that tomorrow MPs will vote with Jeremy Corbyn for yet another pointless delay.

“I don’t think they will, I hope that they won’t.

“But if they do, they will plainly chop the legs out form under the UK position and make any further negotiations absolutely impossible.

“So I say to show our hands in Brussels that we are united in our purpose, MPs should vote with the Government against Corbyn’s delay.

“I want everybody to know that are no circumstances in which I will ask Brussels to delay.

“We are leaving on the 31st of October, no ifs, no buts.”

Protesters could be heard louder than ever throughout the whole speech delivered by the Prime Minister.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said it is “plainly obvious” from the Prime Minister’s statement in Downing Street that he has no plan to get a Brexit deal.

“If MPs blink tomorrow, he will drive the UK off the no-deal cliff on 31 October,” she tweeted. “He must not get away with it.”
