Brexit news: Nigel Farage says no Brexit Party candidate will stand against Tories | UK | News

Nigel Farage confirmed the Brexit Party will not have candidates stand in a general election if Prime Minister Boris Johnson vows to deliver no deal Brexit. Mr Farage said his prospective MPs would be willing to stand aside to help the Conservative Party win a majority if they had the guarantee Britain will leave the European Union without an arrangement. Speaking to BBC’s Radio 4 Today programme, the Brexit Party leader said: “Leaving and being free and having Brexit is one thing.

“If Boris Johnson says, ‘look, we are leaving, we’re going to have a clean break, we will after that negotiate a free trade agreement and no more,’ and deliver a genuine Brexit then we would – the Brexit Party – put country before party.

“We’d tell Mr Johnson, ‘right, we want to help you in any way we can.’

“But I’m afraid that’s not what the Prime Minister wants to do.”

Mr Johnson is believed to be planning to table a motion in Parliament to secure a general election should MPs defeat the Government on a new legislation aimed at taking no deal Brexit off the table.
