Brexit news: Labour confirms MPs to reject Boris Johnson’s general election vote | UK | News

Keir Starmer announced the Labour Party will not be “dancing to Boris Johnson’s tune” and will reject calls for a new general election. Following a significant loss in the Commons on Tuesday, the Prime Minister confirmed he will table a motion for a new vote to be held in mid-October at the earliest. Speaking to Sky News, Mr Starmer said: “We are not voting for a general election today. We are not dancing to Boris Johnson’s tune.

“If Johnson says the election will be on 15 October no one trusts him”

MPs voted 328 to 301 to take over the parliamentary agenda on Wednesday in an attempt to pass new legislation to take no deal Brexit off the table.

Mr Johnson would require a two-thirds majority in the Commons to secure a general election but Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn challenged the Prime Minister, signalling MPs would make it difficult for the Government to win.
