Brexit News: Furious Brexiteer rages at Westminster establishment for stopping Brexit | UK | News

Residents of Grays, Essex, spoke about their anger towards Westminster MPs, amid the looming Brexit deadline  at the end of October. Boris Johnson is set for a showdown with Remainer MPs before the 31st October, as opposition politicians try to block a no deal exit. Local residents of Grays, part of the Thurrock constituency, voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU during the 2016 referendum.

Thurrock had the fourth highest support percentage for Leave, with 72.3 percent of voters choosing to ditch the EU.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, several locals vented their fury at the state of Brexit, more than three years on from the referendum.

One furious resident told Express.co.uk that her trust in politicians has been destroyed by the Westminster plots to stop Brexit.

She said: “I don’t have a lot of trust in the Government or any party really.”

She added: “They have pussyfooted around for far too long and they are not thinking about the people.

“They are just thinking about themselves and what they can get out of it.

“I don’t believe the people are being thought of – we voted for out. It has been three years and we still haven’t got what we voted for.”

Another local resident said: “People just want politicians to finish it. It’s too late for a second referendum.”

The Conservative MP for Thurrock added: “Ultimately Boris Johnson is our PM and I will stand behind him and make sure he delivers.

“As long as he maintains the confidence of the Conservative Party, he will be there to do exactly that.

“We have to leave, we promised to take the instruction of the British people from the referendum.

“That date is now set in law for the 31st October. The fact is either we prolong that further or we revoke Article 50.

“It’s time that we left. Right now, the British people have no confidence in their politics.”
