Brexit news: ‘Desperate’ Farmers People’s Vote latest bid to block no deal mocked | UK | News

Farmers for a People’s Vote has taken part in a bizarre stunt in the capital as they herded a small flock of sheep through London. The anti- campaigners were launching ‘Farmers for a People’s Vote’ which warns of the impact of a no deal Brexit on UK agriculture. In the video, protesters are seen walking the sheep through the capital city on leads.

People’s Vote UK wrote on Twitter: “Launching @farmers4pv today because more than half of UK farms could fail after a No Deal.

“We’ve been joined in Whitehall by farmers and sheep demanding their voices are heard on #Brexit. The only solution is a #PeoplesVote.”

But, the stunt by the Remainers has sparked fury online, with some quick to ridicule the demonstration.

One wrote: “How will this help?”

Another added: “More garbage. Supported by not many farmers.”

A third said: “They are desperate.”

But, some were quick to praise the creative nature of the protest from the anit-Brexit demonstrators, while some were angry at the cruelty towards the animals.

The National Farmers Union has warned about the impacts of tariffs that could be imposed on British farmers in the event of a no deal Brexit.

“Our European friends are not moving in their willingness to compromise, they are not compromising at all to the withdrawal agreement.

“Although it has been thrown out three times they are sticking with every letter…including the backstop, because they still think that Brexit can be blocked in Parliament.”

On Wednesday Jeremy Corbyn wrote to Liberal Democrats and Tory Remainers in a bid to support him as a caretaker prime minister until a general election to halt the threat of a no deal Brexit at the end of October this year.
