B&Q dishwasher warning: Dishwashers fire safety risk identified – stop using ‘immediately’

B&Q has released an important safety notice concerning a dishwasher sold by the company. The freestanding slimline white dishwasher sold by B&Q has been identified as having a safety concern. The retail company is advising customers to stop using the household appliance. This is what you need to know about the latest dishwasher update from B&Q.

B&Q issued the safety notice today stating the company had “identified a safety concern” with a certain dishwasher.

The appliance is the Cooke & Lewis CLDW451W-C / DI6014 – freestanding slimline white dishwasher.

B&Q said: “B&Q has identified a safety concern with the below dishwasher where components may overheat and result in fire.

“We are advising customers to unplug and not use the appliance.”

The DIY and home improvement retailing company stated the dishwasher in question was on sale between 2012 and 2017.

B&Q added: “If you have purchased one of these dishwashers please stop using it immediately.

“Unplug it from the power socket and contact the helpline for assistance.”

Customers who have the freestanding slimline white dishwasher can phone 0333 014 3476.

The helpline operates Monday to Friday 8.30am–8pm, Saturday 9am–5pm and Sunday 10am–4pm.

B&Q apologised for any problems, stating: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Most B&Q stores tend to open from 7am on a weekday and close by around 8pm.

Earlier this year, in July, US home appliance company Whirlpool launched an urgent recall of its fire risk tumble dryers

They warned remaining owners to unplug their machine and not to use it until it’s been replaced or modified.

The affected models were Hotpoint, Indent, Creda, Swan and Proline dryers built between 2004 and 2015.

Those uncertain whether their tumble dryer is a fire risk can check by calling 0800 151 0905 or by visiting the Whirlpool website and using its model number checker.

For anyone with an affected dryer, the Whirlpool safety team said: “Please unplug and do not use the tumble dryer until it has been replaced or modified.”
