Boxing fans hurl beer and trash at Julio Cesar Chavez Jr after boxer quits vs Danny Jacobs | Boxing | Sport

Boxing fans hurled cups of beer into the ring after the conclusion of Danny Jacobs’ fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The Mexican quit at the end of the fifth round after a controversial fight.

Chavez Jr had started the fight well, winning the first round by many fans and pundits’ opinion.

But after Jacobs managed to work his way back into the fight, Chavez Jr withdrew from the fight at the end of the fifth round.

Despite coming into the fight five pounds overweight, the fight was allowed to continue after Chavez Jr paid a fee of $1million [£760,000].

After the fight was called off, fans were quick to let their displeasure be known.

Fans hurled cups of beer, food items, and rubbish at Chavez Jr as he walked out of the ring.

The boxer, son of legendary fighter Julio Cesar Chavez, had to hold his head down and was sheltered by actor Mickey Rourke on his way out of the ring.

Chavez Jr claimed the reason for his withdrawal was his hand, which he believed to be broken. Though his trainer, Freddie Roach, claimed it was his breathing.

Jacobs, meanwhile, had to do his in-ring interview while being surrounded by ring cards to protect him from flying debris.
